Abstract

|
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examine for effectiveness of Electronic Medical Record system in korea.
Methods: The effectiveness factors of hospital operation was investigated by means of reliability, efficiency and economic to determine the performance of Electronic Medical Record system.
Results: The Electronic Medical Record system contributed to improving reliability of medical treatment thanks to precise diagnosis and reduction of the time required to enter the data and of erroneous diagnosis. In terms of efficiency, the Electronic Medical Record system enabled efficient performance of job by standardization of paper forms and terminology as well as smooth cooperation among departments of a hospital by sharing information with each other. With regard to economic, the Electronic Medical Record system was found to contribute to enlarging hospital revenues as it ensured speedy cash flow and less expenditures for administration.
Conclusions: The implications of this study is that hospitals are requested to maximize the use of Electronic Medical Record systems for effectiveness factors that reliability, efficiency and economic of hospital operation.
